WHY I WANT TO BE A LAWYER
Law is an integral part of society, which helps maintaining its order, giving justices to its people and hence leads to creating a developed society. This importance can be observed in history wherein the success of any civilization has been directly proportional to the application of law in the provinces. In modern era the incorporation of law is not only within countries but also between them. Leading to countless applications such that today every facet of life is governed by law.I realized the essence of the subject when my sister, an advocate, started working for a law firm. I became acquainted with the vastness and diversity of the subject, which has led to number of career options each requiring different skills but also possessing common characteristics. This clearly gives a student an opportunity to make a decision about what type of practice to pursue as per their skills and area of interest.
I find practicing law an exciting, challenging and rewarding career. It may not always be glamorous or a money minting job but its certainly is prestigious and respectful. It was during my science graduation years that I developed an interest in Law. I perceived about my life as a lawyer keeping in mind realistic expectations and took the decision based on self-analysis that I want to be a part of this field.
After completing three months as a law student, having developed a better understanding about Law as a subject. I feel very happy about my decision.
The above was an essay i had written in my first year of LL.B. But there some books that i had read which drew me completlely into the profession. They are i think best of the best, and i believe in them and their professional approach to the core. We the People by Nani Pallkhivalla and Roses in December by M. C Chagla are which made me sure of heading into the profession of Law. And after reading J. Nehru's autobiography i stopped thinking and took admission at Government Law College, Mumbai.
Today after completely law and 6 months as an Advocate i am deeply satisfied about my decision and only looking forward to many more months and years of my life as an advocate. God only knows whether i will ever be able to be another Nani, the best Advocate or Chagla, the best Judge ... but i hope and desire Sony, to be the best of me, the human.
